/ 01Who this covers

This policy covers Codify Consulting (ABN 33 737 886 840), based in Newcastle, NSW. It applies to this website and to the information you share with me when we work together. I treat the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as the standard, whether or not the law strictly requires it of a business my size.

/ 02What I collect

Only what you give me, and only what I need to do the work:

• Contact details you submit through the contact form or by email, such as your name, email address, company and phone number.
• Information about your business shared during enquiries, calls and engagements.
• Website and advertising data, such as the pages you visited, how you found the site, what device and browser you used, roughly where you were, and whether you saw or clicked a Codify ad before visiting. This comes from analytics and advertising tools run by companies such as Google, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn. Tools that record how visitors move around the site are set to mask anything typed into a form.

These tools use cookies and similar identifiers. None of it tells me who you are by name, though the advertising platforms may combine it with what they already know about you under their own privacy policies.

/ 03How I use it

To respond to your enquiry, to deliver the work you engage me for, to keep in touch about that work, and to keep the records a business is required to keep.

I also use it for advertising. That means showing Codify ads to people who have visited this site or enquired, measuring whether those ads work, and asking advertising platforms to find audiences with a similar profile. To do that I may share a hashed version of your email address with those platforms so they can match it to an account. Hashing means they receive a scrambled code, not the address itself.

If I ever want to email you anything beyond direct correspondence, I’ll ask first. You won’t be added to a mailing list by stealth.

/ 04Opting out of advertising

Email hello@codifyconsulting.au and I’ll remove you from any Codify advertising audience within 30 days. You can also turn off personalised ads in the settings of the platforms you use, such as your Google ad settings, Meta ad preferences and LinkedIn ad settings. Your Online Choices covers most other networks in one place. Blocking cookies in your browser stops the tags working on this site.

/ 05Who else sees it

Three kinds of organisations, and no one else:

• Service providers I use to run the business, such as email, website hosting, a customer database, accounting software and analytics tools. They process data on my behalf and some store it outside Australia, mainly in the United States.
• Advertising platforms, such as Google, Meta and LinkedIn, which receive the advertising data described above and use it under their own policies, mainly on servers in the United States.
• Anyone the law requires me to disclose it to.

I do not sell, rent or trade your information. Ever.

/ 06How long I keep it

As long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires for business records. After that, it’s deleted.

/ 07Your rights

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email hello@codifyconsulting.au and I’ll respond within 30 days, usually much faster.

/ 08Complaints

If you think I’ve mishandled your information, tell me first and I’ll do my best to fix it. If you’re not satisfied with my response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

/ 09Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with an updated date. No retrospective surprises.
